Wednesday 30 March sees us leaving Mount Isa to start our journey. The Family is very excited. Our first stop a camp on the side of the road called Attack Creek, located 70 km north of Tennant Creek. Ethan has has dubed it 'a camp in the middle of nowhere'. Attack Creek doesn't offer much except a place to stop for free and a nice breeze at night to keep you cool.
Thursday saw us pull into Mataranka for a few days. We decided to stay at the Territory Manor. A good choice, as the tourist season has not started yet and the boys pretty much have the run of the place. Barra feeding occurs twice a day. The boys took advantage of this. Many times they were the only ones feeding the Barra. The Manor also offers a spa and pool, the boys took advantage of this as well.
However, these are not the reasons for staying at Mataranka. For the last three days we have visited the thermal pools at Bitter Springs. Here we don our snorkelling gear and float down the the springs. Mitch has been channeling his inner Steve Backshall, and tried to catch and bring turtles to the surface. He succeeded with a tiny penny turtle. Ethan prefers to float down the springs in an astronaut fashion.
We have also placed the yabby pots in the Roper River. Mitch the hunter gatherer was sucessful in catching two cheriban and tonight we are having reef and beef for dinner.
Overall, the boys sum up our stay as awesome and relaxing and would come
again.
