Eighty Mile Beach

We are unsure if Eighty Mile Beach is anmed this due to the length of the beach or because of how far the tide goes out. A lovely beach regardless. The only thing to do here is fish. On the incoming high tide the caravan park empties and heads off to the beach to catch King Salmon. Yum. However, there a many more fisherman compared King Salmon. We only saw one or two come in each day. Many of the more permanent and older residents are more than happy to catch shark and eat it. Mitch observed many of these being filleted at the fishing table. We let our shark go.

Our only catch over 3 days, a Shovel-nose Shark

The boys met a family from Emerald (who know Lyn Makkai) who tried to teach them whip cracking.

We also watch the beautiful sunsets...
